FlyPix Release: v4.7.0
Version 4.7.0 brings shapefile support to vector layers. Zipped shapefiles can be imported directly in your browser from any coordinate system, and annotations can be exported as shapefiles next to GeoJSON and GeoPackage. Changes made by teammates, through the API or by GeoSense now appear without reloading the page. GeoSense answers can be stopped while they are written, can take you to a named place and can cover scenes you don't have open. GeoSense now picks its own context, shows its thinking apart from its answer, and saves a session only once its first message is sent. The Data panel groups vector layers by source, small annotations can be highlighted on the map, classes can be deleted, and Help Desk messages can include images. The Navigation widget remembers recent places, and maps and GeoSense threads are split into numbered pages. Data Market search starts with imagery from the last two weeks, and orders open their project directly. Semantic segmentation training uses a new, more capable model. This release also fixes a handful of issues.
Changelog
New Features and Improvements
A new eye button next to the compass in the workspace circles the visible annotations that look small on screen in yellow, so they are easy to spot when the whole raster is in view. Annotations big enough to see on their own are left alone. The circles are only a visual aid, not annotations, and follow your class, vector and property filters. Press H to turn them on or off.
In a saved workspace, GeoSense can now answer questions about the vector layers of scenes you don't have open, without switching scenes.
In the workspace, GeoSense can now find a named place for you. Ask, for example, "take me to Rotterdam" or "where is Lake Garda?", and its answer links to the place: clicking the link moves the map there and zooms to fit it. Imagery search results link to the searched area in the same way.
The Import Vector Layer dialog now also reads zipped shapefiles
(.zip holding the .shp, .dbf, .prj and .cpg files) directly in
your browser, and reprojects files in any coordinate system to EPSG:4326.
Pick the layer to import from archives holding several shapefiles,
then map the file's columns to classes, confidence and
data properties
before importing.
Shapefile (.zip) is now an export format next to GeoJSON and GeoPackage, both when exporting a vector layer and when exporting whole files, datasets or workspaces. The archive holds a polygon shapefile that GIS tools such as QGIS and ArcGIS open directly. Column names are shortened to the 10 characters the format allows.
While GeoSense is working on an answer, the send button becomes a stop button. Click it to stop GeoSense right away: whatever it had written stays in the thread, followed by a Message stopped line, and you can send your next message at once. The credits GeoSense had already used for the answer are still charged. The stop button also shows while an answer is still being written out on screen, and clicking it then shows the rest of the answer at once.
The map's Navigation widget now remembers the places and coordinates you went to. As you type, matching recent entries appear above the field. Pick one to go back there without searching again, or remove it from the list. The history is stored in your browser.
Messages to the Help Desk can now include images. Drop images onto the chat, paste them into the message field, or pick them with the + button at the start of the field. Up to 10 images of up to 10 MB each go with a message, and are uploaded when it is sent, each showing its progress. Images appear below the message text; click one to open it in a viewer you can zoom into and step through. A request to the Help Desk takes images the same ways, in its description, and starts its conversation with them.
Classes can now be deleted from the class menu in a project's Classes list, together with their annotations in every vector layer of the project. If trained models use the class, the confirmation lists them first: they can't be run in that project until a class with the same name exists again. Applying one of them offers to create the classes again. Unlike archived classes, deleted classes are no longer seen by GeoSense.
Changes
Training a Semantic Segmentation model now uses a new, more capable model. Segmentation models you already trained keep working and are now labeled Area Segmentation (Legacy), while new ones are labeled Area Segmentation.
The Maps and Community pages now show how many pages of maps there are, and any page can be opened directly. Their search matches map names, and maps can be sorted by name or publish date. GeoSense threads, in the sidebar and the thread browser, are paged as well, and their search and scope reach every thread, rather than only the newest 200.
The Position, Visibility and Selection toggles above the GeoSense message field are gone. In a workspace, every message now shares all three, and GeoSense decides which ones matter for your question.
Changes made outside your browser tab now appear on their own, without reloading the page. This covers changes by teammates, through the API or by GeoSense to projects, folders, rasters, vectors, annotations, regions, workspaces, models, datasets, maps and orders, as well as your credit balance, subscription and team members. If you lose access to the tenant you have open, you are moved to another tenant you belong to.
The Vector Layers list in the Data panel is now split into Manual, AI detection and Change detection groups. Change detection results now appear there as regular vector layers, and are included in annotation exports. AI and change detection layers are listed newest first, and hovering one shows when it was run. Each group has an eye button to show or hide all of its layers, and AI and change detection groups with several runs can switch between showing All layers and only the Latest one.
A new GeoSense session is now saved when you send its first message, so sessions you open and leave without writing no longer fill up the session list. You can still name the session and allow platform tools before writing anything, and GeoSense can then act for you from the first message.
Data Market search now shows imagery captured in the last two weeks, rather than imagery from any date. The range appears as a Capture Date filter that can be removed to search any date, and Reset Filter restores it. The capture date presets are removed; dates are set in the date fields.
In My Data, the main button of each order now opens its project, and the order's details moved into the ⋮ menu next to it. Go to Project stays disabled while the data is being acquired and enables itself once the data appears in the project.
GeoSense messages now look different depending on their part in a reply. The steps GeoSense takes, such as fetching data, searching the documentation or using platform tools, appear together in one thinking section rather than as separate messages. The section stays open while GeoSense works, then folds into a one-line summary that opens again on a click. What GeoSense says it will do next appears in a lighter, dashed outline between these steps, and only the final answer appears as a message. Sessions opened again later look the same.
Fixes
Fixed a scrollbar and a dark bar appearing under the map when a panel below it was resized so tall that the map's tools no longer fit. Tools that don't fit now move behind a More tools (⋯) button at the bottom of the toolbox.
GeoSense's Find Similar block now stays in sync with the workspace's Find Similar tool. Objects you confirm in the workspace, including with Confirm & Find More, are now sent to GeoSense with the rest of the results instead of being left out. The block shows how many you have confirmed so far, can send just those with Send Confirmed, and waits while the workspace is still searching or saving.
Overlapping Data Market results no longer darken the map where they overlap. The area covered by the results is now shaded evenly, however many of them overlap, with each result still outlined and highlighted when you hover it.
