Major FlyPix Release: v4.0.0
Version 4.0.0 makes the workspace fully arrangeable: every panel can be dragged to a new position, resized, stacked into tabs, collapsed to a rail, floated as its own window, or closed, with named layouts to save and switch between and a lock that holds an arrangement in place.
Parts of the workspace moved to match โ applying an AI model, creating an object layer, and picking an object class now open a dialog or a menu rather than a panel beside the sidebar, and each mode leads its controls with its primary action. Training adds a Target Resolution control with a live preview of the model's crop window. Change Detection can target specific change sizes, Data Market can show WMTS sources on the map without searching first, GeoJSON import can include invalid geometries, and stalled raster, training, and inference jobs can be reported with a new Poke button.
The folder button beside Save is also gone โ the Scenes panel switches between the workspace's own images instead. This release also fixes a handful of minor issues.
Changelogโ
Major New Features
The workspace is no longer a fixed layout. Every panel โ Viewport, Controls, Data, Inspector, GeoSense, Scenes, and Analytics โ can now be dragged to a new position, resized, stacked into tabs with another panel, collapsed to a thin rail, floated as its own window, or closed entirely, and a Components menu in the header brings back anything you closed. Your arrangement is remembered the next time you open the workspace, and a Layout menu lets you save named layouts, switch between them, or reset to the default at any time. The layout starts locked, so nothing is rearranged by accident โ unlock it from the header to move panels around, while resizing, collapsing, and maximizing keep working either way. See the workspace layout guide for the full walkthrough.
New Features and Improvements
Advanced Settings now has a Target Resolution control, letting you pick the ground sample distance your imagery is resampled to before training. A live preview shows real pixels of your largest training region with the model's crop window drawn over it, so you can see the trade-off directly: a coarser target resolution makes the window cover more ground with less detail, a finer one covers less ground in sharper detail. The slider starts at your data's native resolution, and leaving it there keeps the previous behavior.
The details page for a frozen dataset now shows its ground sample distance (GSD) range, alongside the existing total area.
Data Market has a new WMTS toggle that shows available WMTS data sources directly on the map, without needing to search a region first. Click a source to view its details and acquire it.
The Run Change Detection modal now lets you target specific change sizes. Keep Default for the model's general-purpose detection profile, or pick any combination of the Large (L), Medium (M), Small (S), and Extra Small (XS) tiles to detect only those sizes of change. Your selection resets to Default whenever you switch to a different scene pair.
Importing annotations or regions from GeoJSON now offers an "Include Bad Geometries" option. When enabled, geometries that fail validation are imported alongside the rest instead of being skipped.
Raster processing, model training, and inference jobs now show a "Poke!" button once their progress has gone quiet for about 15 minutes. Clicking it notifies the FlyPix team that the task looks stuck. It can be used again on the same task after another 15 minutes.
Changes
Apply AI Model now opens a dialog over the workspace instead of a panel beside the sidebar. Models are split across My Models, Official and External tabs, each showing how many it holds, and each with its own search and sorting. The cards are laid out in a grid, so more models fit on screen at once.
The + beside Object Classes opens a menu on the button itself rather than a panel beside the sidebar, and Add Object Class sits at the top of it, so it stays in reach no matter how many classes a project has. Classes the layer already contains are left out โ those are already listed below, where clicking one selects it directly.
Add Object Layer now opens the same dialog as Create New Layer instead of a panel beside the sidebar. The two used to disagree on what counted as a valid name; both now accept anything from 1 to 30 characters.
In Training mode, the Model Training Summary โ data size, estimated cost and the button that opens training โ now sits directly under the mode switcher instead of being pinned below the region and layer lists. It is the primary action of the mode, and it no longer has to be scrolled past to be found. Apply AI Model likewise leads View mode's controls, so the two modes put their main action in the same place.
A region's Training Behavior control now carries the behavior's own color โ blue for Training, pink for Validation โ on both the control and its menu, matching how the regions themselves are drawn on the map.
GeoSense has dropped its Experimental badge. It has been available for a while and is now a fully established part of the workspace.
Removed Features
The folder button next to Save, which opened each of the workspace's own images in a workspace of its own, has been removed. Switching between them from the Scenes panel does the same job without leaving the workspace.
Fixes
Fixed the imagery date range fields on the Data Market custom order request panel, where the To field was cut off instead of fitting beside From.
Fixed the Data Market map only panning with the middle mouse button or Ctrl/Cmd-drag โ right-click-drag now pans it too, matching the rest of the app, and right-click no longer opens the browser's context menu over the map. Drawing a search box also switched from click-move-click to a single left-click-drag, matching how boxes are drawn everywhere else in the app.
